Dr. Annie Matan's and Prof. Peter Newman's "People Cities: The Life and Legacy of Jan Gehl," is TransportiCA's December Book Club Selection

December 3, 2018

SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”), and its sustainable transportation blog TransportiCA, are proud to announce People Cities: The Life and Legacy of Jan Gehl, by Dr. Annie Matan and Prof. Peter Newman, OA (above), as December’s Book Club selection.

Published in November 2016, People Cities marries a biography, technical manual, and academic publication, focusing incredibly on the “designer,” and the views and traits embodying Gehl’s transformational approach.

“People Cities is the best publication to conclude the Book Club’s 2018 focus on how planning and design effects sustainable transportation. With last month featuring works by Gehl and Svarre, Matan and Newman’s publication expands on the human-centered approach Gehl has mastered, providing the reader a welcoming understanding of this behavioral design model, further preserving Gehl’s legacy,” stated Greg Justice, CalGreen’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CEO/ED), and TransportiCA’s Founder/Editor.

Founded in May 2015, TransportiCA is CalGreen’s flagship program,  focusing on the education and promotion of sustainable transportation: “Mobility meeting the Triple Bottom Line.”  TransportiCA's most popular feature is the monthly Book Club, with every publication embodying the elements of sustainable transportation–social responsibility, financial security, and environmental stewardship.  The Book Club also features a contest with questions about the author’s professional life, with the winner receiving a copy.  For more information, please visit the Book Club’s webpage.
