CalGreen Celebrates "California Nonprofits Day"
Annual event observes the contributions and leadership of the State’s large and diverse social sector.
SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) celebrates “California Nonprofits Day,” and the many “Nonprofit of the Year” winners, all gathered in Sacramento.
“For California’s estimated 144,728 nonprofits, this is the holy grail of honors; earning a ‘Nonprofit of the Year’ award carries significant prestige and bragging rights, and all nonprofits should aspire to the high standards set by these winners. CalGreen thanks the amazing leadership of Jan Masaoka–CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (“CalNonprofits”), Assembly member Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara)–Chair of the Select Committee on the Non-Profit Sector, both houses of the Legislature, and all 97 participating Assembly members and Senators for their dedication to this incredible event,” remarked Greg Justice, CalGreen’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CEO/ED).
California nonprofits employ 900,800 workers–7.5% of the state’s workforce, generate more than $298.4 billion in annual revenues, hold assets in excess of $608.34 billion, and Californians give over $25 billion annually to charity.
