CalGreen / USF Commence Inaugural Sector Speakers Series
SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) is proud to launch the “Sector Speakers Series,” in cooperation with the University of San Francisco’s (“USF”) Masters of Nonprofit Administration (“MNA”) Program. Bringing together the greatest minds of the nonprofit sector, and at no charge to attendees–a major tenant of the program, the series’ goal is to provide informative, engaging, and transformational conversations.
“The series is an amazing opportunity for CalGreen supporters, nonprofit scholars, and social sector professionals; we have an incredible program being developed, including many first-class speakers in the pipeline,” remarked Anthony Palmere, CalGreen’s Acting Chair.
Chandra Alexandre, Ph.D., MBA, CFRE–Vice-President of Development for the Global Fund for Women and USF professor of fundraising and philanthropy (pictured right)–will inaugurate the series on Friday, 04 May, discussing the Certified Fund Raising Executive exam (“CFRE”), her CFRE preparation and career application, as well as, emerging trends in philanthropy and nonprofit development.
Unlike many professional certification programs offered by academic institutions, for-profit firms, professional associations, and nonprofit organizations, CFRE is practice-based. It is not an educational program intended to teach how to raise funds. Rather, it is an assessment process, designed to measure the individual’s knowledge and skills in best practices in ethical philanthropic fundraising. Further, CFRE is the nation’s first professional certification composed mostly of ethical practices and standards, as opposed to solely technical information.
“The cross-sector relations and sector innovation analysis have been distinguishing characteristics of the Master of Nonprofit Administration, since its foundation in 1983. While celebrating 35 years in educating competent and effective nonprofit-social sector leaders, we are happy to co-sponsor the Sector Speaker Series, promoting the understanding of a shared value society for a sustainable future,” stated Dr. Marco Tavanti, MNA Program Director, and USF School of Management professor.
The inaugural webinar occurs Friday, 04 May, from 12:00-13:30 PST, and can be accessed live at: https://usfca.zoom.us/j/386302192. Questions for
