Dr. Karen Trapenberg Frick's "Remaking the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge" is TransportiCA’s September Book Club Selection

September 3, 2018

SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) is proud to announce Remaking the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge: A Case of Shadowboxing with Nature by Dr. Karen Trapenberg Frick, as TransportiCA’s September Book Club selection.

Dr. Trapenberg Frick is an Associate Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at U.C. Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design.  She is also Director of the University of California ("U.C.") Transportation Center and Assistant Director of the U.C. Transportation Center on Economic Competitiveness in Transportation.  Dr. Trapenberg Frick’s research focuses on the complexities and risks of infrastructure megaprojects, how the public sector can better foresee such risks, as well as, innovations in transportation planning, delivery/design, and finance.

“We are incredibly proud to feature Dr. Trapenberg Frick’s publication; this is, not only an excellent technical documentation and critical analysis for megaprojects everywhere, but we are certain this book will become mandatory reading for infrastructure planning and engineering courses,” stated Greg Justice, CalGreen’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CEO/ED).

Founded in May 2015, TransportiCA is CalGreen’s flagship program, focusing on the education and promotion of sustainable transportation: “Mobility meeting the Triple-Bottom Line.”  TransportiCA's most popular feature is the monthly Book Club; each month, a new publication is selected encompassing sustainable transportation elements–social responsibility, financial security and environmental stewardship.  Along with the selection, the Book Club features a contest with questions about the author’s professional life, with the winner receiving a signed copy.  For further Book Club inquiries, please visit: www.transporticabookclub.info.
