SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) is proud to announce Professor Karen E. Firehock (UVA) as the August Transformation Speaker Series (“Series”) presenter. Focusing on sustainable transportation, the Series features some of the greatest minds in resilient infrastructure, urban mobility, and innovative transportation, and is a partnership with TransportiCA and Island Press.

Presenting from her critically-acclaimed publication Strategic Green Infrastructure Planning (TransportiCA’s August Book Club selection), Prof. Firehock discusses the increasing importance for transportation planning and engineering being based upon green infrastructure principles, with natural resources considered our greatest assets.

TransportiCA elected Strategic Green Infrastructure Planning as the August 2018 Book Club selection, because the publication has become paramount in providing, “a diversity of measures governments can take to ‘green’ their communities, while also improving infrastructure for the long-term, especially for sustainable transportation planning.”
