CalGreen Launches "Nonprofit Dictionary" Website

New program aims to unify important social sector terminology, serving as an important educational resource for everyone.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy’s (“CalGreen”) Board of Directors (“Board”) has approved its newest program, the “Nonprofit Dictionary.” In the same inspiration as Presidio Graduate School’s (“PGS”) “Dictionary of Sustainability Management,” the Nonprofit Dictionary centralizes important terms and concepts for the social sector, democratizing such education and participation.

“Whether it is the IRS’s exempt organizations webpage and resources, the California Franchise Tax Board’s equivalent, or even other major nonprofit publications, there exists no central dictionary for the nonprofit sector, and in the like manner of PGS’ Sustainability Dictionary. We are very excited about this program launch, and hopeful the Nonprofit Dictionary becomes a major / lasting educational resource,” stated Greg Justice, CalGreen’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

The Nonprofit Dictionary can be accessed at nonprofitdictionary.info (or “.org”), and CalGreen’s Board especially welcomes any 501(c)-registered nonprofit, academic, and/or social organization, wanting to partner with the program for development, publicity, and overall support. For additional information, or to submit any terminology, please email info@nonprofitdictionary.info (or “.org”); with submission, please include your source. Academic and professional sources are far more likely to be included in the Dictionary, and CalGreen reserves the right to forgo terminology non-pertinent to the nonprofit / social sector, and may substitute a submitted term’s source, reflecting a more qualified or objective foundation. You can follow the Dictionary on Twitter @npodictionary, or Instagram @npodictionary.
