Mickey serves as the Director of Translation Services for the California Green Academy. Prior to CalGreen, he was the LEAD Translator for the San Mateo Foster City School District - one California’s most culturally and linguistically diverse K-12 districts, and served as a member of the District’s Equity Task Force.
His hobbies include reading, learning about the Spanish language by traveling, and painting by number. Born in Sonora, Mexico, but raised in Ontario, California, Mickey grew up in a Spanish-speaking family, interpreting for his parents and neighbors at an early age. From this beginning, he developed his passion for achieving equity through serving the community's linguistic needs.
Mickey earned an Associates degree in English from Mt. San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and holds a Master of Arts in Spanish, from San Jose State University.
